IT and eStores Vendor Expo • Thank you for coming out • IT vendors were pleased with turnout • Comments on inclusion of eStores vendors? • A survey will be going out to those who signed in at the door • Please fill out the survey if you receive it • Should arrive before May 15 • April 27, 2016 is next year’s date!
MS FTE Counts: Forumulae • Microsoft FTE includes: • Full Time Faculty/Staff/GRA/GTA/GAA: 1 FTE • Part time Faculty/GRA/GTA/GAA: 1/3 FTE • Part time Staff: 1/2 FTE • Excluded: • Non-Knowledgeworkers (mechanics, landscapers, custodial, etc) • Staff/Fac who take classes are removed from the student counts
LANDesk Counts: Forumula • Microsoft FTE includes: • Full Time Faculty/Staff: 1 FTE • Part time Faculty: 1/3 FTE • Part time Staff: 1/2 FTE • Excluded: • Non-Knowledgeworkers (mechanics, landscapers, custodial, etc) • All Students, regardless of job title
Oracle Headcounts: Forumula • Total Headcount (not FTE) • Includes only University: No Medical Center • Includes students • Part time students are ¼ of a headcount • College of Med Residents and Clinical Staff fall under “MedCenter” for this license • Student employees are removed from Fac/Staff count to prevent a double-count • Employees taking classes are removed from student count to prevent a double-count
Microsoft Renewal • Microsoft has offered the IUC a price-freeze on years 3-5 on our license • Total savings for OSU: $650k over 3 years • Total IUC savings: about $2 million • Deal also includes Office 365 E3 at no charge • Strings attached: • Azure purchase: $200k commit each year • MDOP purchase of 40k FTE’s
Azure Purchases • The IUC has about $75k in Azure purchases lined up • We need a lot more • If you have any interest in Azure at all, please contact me at dangler.8@osu.edu
Renewals: SPSS • SPSS: • In discussion on renewal for June 30 • How the software is packaged may change slightly • We might update to go from a named package solution to a bundle solution • We expect all modules to remain, and possibly to add one or two modules • Looking at Admin use as well, if the pricing comes back cheaper
Renewals: MATLAB • Purchasing is intending to renew this as-is at this time • Quote for renewal should arrive in the coming month for our August 1 renewal • Some customers have been purchasing individual toolboxes: • To apply these, you must first associate with the OSU license. Do this by going through self-service, requesting the software, and following the instructions. http://go.osu.edu/it
Renewals: NVivo • 150 seats to be renewed in June • Initial quote was an 8% increase • Negotiated to a 0% increase • No expected pricing changes • Codes expected in June
Renewals: Other • xWin32 • Expected to renew on time • PowerTerm • Renewed, no change • Parallels • Expected to renew, pricing may change • Minitab • Renews August 30, expected on time.
