SESAR Project 10.7.1 Enhanced Datalink Features for all phases of flight
SESAR presentation Air Systems Division
THALES in SESAR • Major player in System Work Packages • WP10 En-Route & Approach ATC Systems (Co-leader & main contributor) • WP14 SWIM (Co-leader & main contributor) • WP15 CNS Systems (Co-leader & main contributor) • Major player in WP12 Airport Systems & WP9 Aircraft Systems (Avionics) • Significant participation in related Operational Work Packages • WP4 En-Route Operations • WP5 TMA Operations • WP6 Airport Systems • WP8 Information Management • Substantial participation in • WP3 Validation Infrastructure • WPB Target Concept and Architecture Maintenance Air Systems Division
Project 10.7.1 – Enhanced Datalink • Objective : Develop and verify Pre-SWIM enhanced datalink services, compliant with the WG-78/SC-214 standard in all environments (En-Route, Approach and Airport ground systems) • Leader : Thales Air Systems Division
Project 10.7.1 – General Structure • ATC system specifications supporting enhanced ATS Datalink applications • Prototypes development • Prototype 1 (Indra/Selex/Eurocontrol) Development and Verification • Selex instance dedicated to Airport domain • DLIC, ACM, DCL, D-TAXI, D-OTIS (only D-ATIS) • Indra instance dedicated to Approach and En-Route domains • DLIC, ACM, AMC, ACL, 4DTRAD • Eurocontrol instance (MUAC) dedicated to i4D • DLIC, ACM, AMC, ACL, 4DTRAD • Prototype 2 (Thales) Development and Verification • Thales prototype dealing with all domains • DLIC, ACM, AMC, ACL, DCL, D-TAXI, 4DTRAD, ATSA-ITP, D-OTIS • Support to standardisation (SC214/WG78) Air Systems Division

Draft schedule 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 T0 Phase 1: Functional assumptions Validation plan Trials Validation results Phase 2: Functional assumptions Air Systems Division Validation plan Trials Validation results
Issues • Time schedule for standard validation • First validation results will not be available end of 2011 • Phase 1 : beginning of 2012 • Phase 2 : End 2013 • SC214/WG78 validation end date should be pushed to at least mid 2013 to get validation results feedbacks from P10.7.1 • Synchronisation with Airborne projects • Implemented INTEROP shall be the same • PDRs assessment needs to be done • A unique ASN.1 baseline from RevH + PDRs needs to be shared • Schedule for validation exercises • ASAS is not part of current SC214/WG78 TORs • 9.5 & 9.6 for airborne systems • 10.3 for ground systems Air Systems Division
Opportunities • Flight tests and ATC shadow mode with other partners • Trajectory exchange (i4D/4DTRAD) with 10.x.y / 4.x.y / 5.x.y / 9.1 • FDPS trajectory enhancement • Controller HMI improvement • Conformance monitoring (e.g. FLIPCY) • AMAN integration for RTA/CTA in approach • Taxi Route clearances (D-TAXI) with 12.x.y / 6.x.y / 9.13 • Controller HMI and FDPS enhancement • D-TAXI text vs. D-TAXI graphical and ground HMI representation • Link with Departure clearance (DCL) • Additional FIS services validation • D-HZWX and D-RVR not in SESAR scope • Could be part of a later need: • SESAR operational needs have to be identified • SC214/WG78 SPR & INTEROP shall be clear enough for implementation Air Systems Division
