Computer Proposal Jordan Karsten Brandy Rivers Justin Kerwin Conner Kostelac
Challenge Our group was challenged with the task of finding and comparing two different laptops for use in the English department. After researching different models and features, we found two models that we feel would be sufficient for their intended usage.
The Proposal MacBook Air 11” Vostro 3460 14”
Pros Macbook Air Vostro 3460 Great value for money, Includes fingerprint security & 4 USB 3.0 ports, Strong design • Thin, Light. Third Generation Intel Core processor. Bright screen. Nice multi-touch trackpad. Backlit keyboard. USB 3.0 ports. Thunderbolt port. Dual-band Wi-Fi.
Cons Macbook Air Vostro 3460 The fan runs continuously and often achieves annoying noise levels. We also have to mention the fairly dark screen here. It can be strenuous to gaze on a dark screen over a longer period of time. Great value for money, Includes fingerprint security & 4 USB 3.0 ports, Strong design • Ultrabooks are catching up on weight and performance. Middling battery life. Chassis precludes full sized HDMI or Ethernet ports. New MagSafe 2 port needs adapter for old MagSafe adapters and monitors. No SD card slot. Small amount of flash storage.
Bottom Line Macbook Air Vostro 3460 If you're after a laptop that can handle all the work you throw at it, and a little play along the way, then this laptop is certainly one to consider. • The ultrabooks are catching up to the pioneer Apple MacBook Air 11-inch (Mid-2012) in terms of portability and capabilities, but the latest iteration is a nice system for those who want a second or third Mac around the house. However, for the price, competition is fierce.
Product Reviews MacBook Air Vostro 3460 “This advanced 14" business laptop offers vital security features and 3rd Gen Intel Core processors. Stay protected, boot up and load apps in a flash” (Notebook Check). • “The new 11-inch MacBook Air is every bit as fast as the 13-inch Air, despite its smaller size, but you'll give up 2 hours of battery life in the bargain” (Tew).
