Wythe and Wytheville Consolidation • Awarded $717,714 through four separate grants for a consolidation project • Localities have drawn down $55,629 • Requesting an extension until 12/30/12 • Consolidated center is in the final stages of construction with an expected completion date of July 2012 • Equipment purchase phase in underway • The new center is targeted to be operational in October 2012 • Some delay in project was experienced because additional local funding was needed to complete entire project, but this issue has been resolved
Alleghany & Covington Consolidation • Awarded $800,000 through three separate grants for a consolidation project • Localities have drawn down $600,000 • Requesting an extension until 12/30/12 • Radio line of site studies have been completed and a SOW has been signed and executed to upgrade Dispatch resources with a uniform CAD/mapping system for the agencies. • Localities have had to overcome local governance issues and funding commitment is key • Intermediate solution has been to focus on shared technology and then physical consolidation • The building and consolidated dispatch should be completed by 06/30/15
Lee County • Awarded $68,950 for a 9-1-1 training project • Locality has drawn down $4,837 • Requesting an extension until 6/30/13 • Lee County is still in the process of implementing E-911 and wireless 9-1-1 • Expected completion date is the end of the 2012 calendar year • These implementations have taken longer than expected because addressing in a rural locality is challenging and the County has not yet achieved the minimum validation percentages • A large part of the grant will be used to train new personnel, but E-911 and wireless deployments must occur first
James City County • Awarded $300,000 for a data sharing project • Locality has drawn down $150,000 • Requesting an extension until 6/30/13 • Project experienced technical and physical delays: • Consolidation of York, Poquoson, and Williamsburg PSAPs • York-Poquoson-Williamsburg PSAP was flooded in July 2009 • Both PSAPs purchasing separate CAD systems, which caused an interface issue between the PSAPs • Vendors have been working to develop a unique CAD to CAD interface using national standards • Deployment date for configured data is May 2012 • Additional time is needed for continued testing and project completion
Charles City County • Awarded $96,000 for a CAD/GIS mapping upgrade project • Locality has drawn down $65,896 • Requesting an extension until 12/30/12 • During the implementation phase of the upgrade, the locality experienced a failure to one of their CPE workstations • This workstation was no longer supported by a maintenance agreement with a vendor and locality needed to first obtain grant funds to replace the workstation • Despite setback, a portion of the upgrade has been completed
