FTE-Based Software Recovery • In December, OSU Purchasing moved SPSS and SAS T&R to FTE-based recovery • These products no longer have a per-copy fee • Software is available to faculty, staff, and students without an eRequest or wait • Resolves a number of download issues as well • OSU Purchasing is reviewing SAS Admin fees
FTE-Based Software Recovery • The following products are on FTE-based recovery: • Microsoft Campus Agreement (including SQL) • Adobe Enterprise Term License Agreement • Qualtrics Research Suite • SPSS • SAS for Teaching and Research • Per FTE cost: $83.67 Fac/Staff; $10.72 Student
FTE-Based Software Recovery • OSU Purchasing is looking at several other candidate products • Sigmaplot • MATLAB • Secunia • ESRI/GIS • Maple • Minitab • Mathematica
Support Updates • In December, several titles were reorganized on OCIO Self Service • Logical groupings • Reduction in duplication • Updated versions of several products • Maple • Cisco AnyConnect • SCEP • Renewals for other products • SAS, Sigmaplot & JMP codes were added
Support Updates • SLSC’s will see the following items: • Addition of Visio Standard/Pro and Project Pro 2016 • Reorganized Office products • Reorganized MAK’s • Added Sharepoint 2013 SP1 • Added SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 • There is no “System Center 2012 R2 SP1,” only a System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2 SP1. Instructions are included in the download
Microsoft Select Agreement • OSU’s Microsoft Select Agreement expires on 6/30/2016 • This is the agreement we purchase things not on our Campus Agreement from • e.g. Project, Visio, etc. • The old Select Agreement is no longer available • All new agreements are “Select Plus,” which does not co-term Software Assurance (SA) • We’re working with MS at this time, but will have an update at the next meeting. • You will have to plan to renew Software Assurance and MSDN accounts when the agreement expires.
Adobe CC for Students & DPS • Adobe has brought good proposals to the table regarding Creative Cloud for Students, and DPS for campus • Discussions remain ongoing regarding these products • The Inter-University Council (IUC) of Ohio is discussing Adobe CC for students across all 14 schools
Renewals • SAS – complete, Codes received • Secunia – complete, renewed • Adobe – complete, renewed • Sigmaplot – complete, Codes received • JMP – complete, Codes received • Maple – complete, renewed
Renewals: Sigmaplot • Before Dec. 31, we received codes for v. 13 • Codes for v. 12 and 11 were received in early January • Recommend upgrading if you are running an old version (v. 11 came out 7 years ago) • We have encountered some issues with renewal
Renewals: Sigmaplot • Renewal instructions: http://ocio.osu.edu/KB04362 • If the issue persists: • You can find the license file here, typically (default location): • c:\Program Files (x86)\SigmaPlot\SPW13 • And the license file is called "lservrc" with no file extension. (There is also a lservrc.ppp file: ignore that file for this process). • If you rename this file "lservrc.old" and re-run the process in the KB article above, this may solve your issue.
Renewals: Sigmaplot • If the issue continues to persist: • Users have found that they can sometimes change the name of the Sentinel folder, and run the authorization process again. To do this, locate this folder, typically installed at: • C:\ProgramData\SafeNet Sentinel • (“ProgramData” is often a hidden file) • And rename the “SafeNet Sentinel” folder to “SafeNet Sentinel Old” • Try the authorization process once more by re-running the process in the KB article above, this should solve your issue.
Possible Site License: ExamSoft • ExamSoft offered pricing is as follows: • $8/student/year at 30,000 users • Support separate • Currently, we have 5,000 active test takers at $40-45/taker • Current spend: in excess of $200,000 • We believe our current need is for 10k test takers
Student FTE totals • We’re looking at ExamSoft from an FTE model based on the percentage of students in a specific area who wants to join in. • ExamSoft licensing is based on test-taker, not FTE, but this is a close metric
OSU Purchasing IT Update • Bids in flight now • ERP bid is closed, and we are reviewing responses • Multi-Factor Authentication bid has been awarded to Duo • Vulnerability Management bid is pending award • Online Proctoring Pilot bid is now open and accepting responses
OSU Purchasing IT Update • Updates to Computer Hardware costs: • Dell machines can now be purchased through CDWG • Purchases can be done through eStores
Questions/Comments • Next meetings • Feb. 29, 2016 • April 27, 2016, will now be a Microsoft Event • For SLS Questions, copy software@osu.edu with any correspondence
