Muon Piquet Report week 24 Burkhard Schmidt Diego and Patrizia kindly served as piquet on June 18 and 19. Many thanks!
LHC Status Run Statistics 13-20June Main Delays: Cryo injection oscillations / losses Fills 1868 and 1871 used by LHCb for studies with higher luminosities
Running the detector at 3.5 x 1032/cm2/sFill 1868 • During data-taking at a luminosity of 3.4-3.5 x 1032/cm2/s we had 10 trips, and 11 in total during fill 1868. Given the increase in luminosity this is rather normal. No problems with system operation.
Running the detector at 4 x 1032/cm2/sFill 1871 • The Muon System did not show problems and only a five trips occurred. • Currents on GEM A17A2 R/L reached the values of about 7400 nA, three more GEM chambers exceeded the value of 5000 nA. All in all, pretty good.
Intervention on Thursday (Access) Was very successful: • four HV RDB-boards replaced: • RDB#4 by RDB#12 - M2C DOWN, • RDB#11 by RDB#30 -M2C UP, • RDB#53 by RDB#52 and • RDB#55 by RDB#67 - M5A UP. • Gap in the muon chamber (M5R4 on A-side) with short circuit inside has been disconnected from HV-system (jumper removed from PP), • In addition, we swapped SYNC chips inside of ODE board (R41 on M1A) in order to better understand the problem with L0-MUON data mismatches.
Muon System Status Friday 17/06 • A check of the replaced HV-boards (RDBs) revealed that we have no radiation problems there; however, the chambers connected to the boards need more conditioning. • The number of gaps tripping in the fill 1875 is less than usual (only 2 in nearly 6 hours). Maybe the running at higher lumion Tuesday and Thursday was beneficial...
