MUON piquet report 24/4 -30/5 2012 Nikolai Bondar
Technical Stop 23/04-27/04. Access till 26/04. 28/04 – 30/04 LHC team working with machine. The first collisions since the technical stop were taken this morning, with LHCb collisions dedicated to take time-alignment events for the muon system, to allow studies of the efficacy of the aluminum chamber covers. Physics fills should happen later today.
Works done this TS: Condition chambers on A-side Recovered – M2R4: (10,12,14,16)D gapB M4R3 10A gapD M5R3 21A gapD M5R4: 03(A – D) gapD; 04(A-D) gapC; (10,12,14,16)D gapB; (18,20,22,24)D gapD Improved , but not completely recovered – M3R3 18B gapC M5R3 12A gapA; 22A gapB; 24A gapB M5R4 08(A-D) gapC; (10,12,14,16)D gapC; 30(A-D) gapC Chambers on C-side were not conditioned because of lack of time
Electronics • Q2M1R1 _3/191 Sync 23 – little hole on ODE-level, see details in [[https://lblogbook.cern.ch/MUON/3156][https: //lblogbook.cern.ch/MUON/3156]] SYNCs 0-5 swapped with 18-23 (triple SYNCs). Connectivity test Ok. The hole disappeared 2. Check SB-side no counts rate seen from internal counters , see details in [[https://lblogbook.cern.ch/MUON/3087][https://lblogbook.cern.ch/MUON/3087]] • A M1R1-16A2 SB1/8-11 - FEBs 18-23 Pin #2(black wire) of control cable shorted to ground on chamber side. • A M3 R2-17A3 SB14/3-5 Corresponding ELMB replaced • C M2 R2-19A1 SB2/6-8 (as a spare I used the spare ELMB • C M3 R2-13A3 SB3/3-5 from the same board or adjacent board)
3. Installation of ferrite cable filters to reduce the noise, see details in [[https://lblogbook.cern.ch/MUON/3153][https://lblogbook.cern.ch/MUON/3153]] On the control cable of chambers AM1R2-15A3; CM1R2-15A3; CM1R4-19; CM5R4-29B - ferrite rings were installed. Effect is not very good On the control cable of chamber CM4R4-30D – ferrite ring does not help. The problem needs more investigations
Test shielding back side of M5 Aluminum shield (thickness ~ 5mm) installed on A side at the of M5 M5 M5R2 M5R3 M5R4 M5R1 Detailed information will be presented by Rolf
