IMPERFECT TENSE: Drop –ri/-i from the 2nd principal part. Add –(e)ba- and then the passive endings. • Try: • Moror, morari, moratus sum • Videor, videri, visus sum • Nascor, nasci, natus sum • Potior, potiri, potitus sum
FUTURE TENSE: Drop –ri/-i from the 2nd principal part. Add –bo/bi/bu- for a 1st/2nd conjugation verb, or –a/e- for a 3rd/4th conjugation. Then add passive endings. • Try: • Hortor, hortari, hortatus sum • Vereor, vereri, veritus sum • Morior, mori, mortuus sum • Opperior, opperiri, oppertus sum
PERFECT TENSE: Use the 3rd principal part. Change “sum” to the helping verb that fits the subject. • Try: • Arbitror, arbitrari, arbitratus sum • Polliceor, polliceri, pollicitus sum • Utor, uti, usus sum • Orior, oriri, ortus sum
