2012 Bond Overview 2012 Bond Project key facts: $1.89 billion in funding 40 schools to be built or renovated by 2020 Architect contracts have been awarded for 23 projects Middle School restroom renovations start in 2013 Planning and design meetings underway North and South Early Colleges to see groundbreakings in 2013 Real estate acquisitions underway All projects will be built to LEED standards

2012 Bond Outreach • Project Advisory Teams • A Project Advisory Team (PAT) will be formed at each of the 2012 Bond campuses • The PAT will be comprised of stakeholders including administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community members • The PAT will meet monthly and will be actively engaged in making decisions about planning and design issues throughout the project
2012 Bond Outreach • Community-wide Meetings • Intended to engage the neighbors as well as school participants • Each project will have at least three meetings: • At the beginning of the project to discuss project parameters • During Design Development when floor plan and exterior images are sufficiently detailed • After the contractor has been selected to allow the community to meet the contractor and know what to expect during construction

2007 Bond Overview 2007 Bond Program key facts: $805 million in funding New fencing installed at 131 schools More than 8,800 security cameras installed 20 new schools open and serving students 3 new schools still under construction 2 schools renovated and expanded Renovations/repair projects completed throughout the district and others ongoing LEED success • 2002: 3 Certified • 2007: 6 Certified, 3 Silver, 1 Gold
2007 Bond Financial Reports HISD’s 2007 Facilities Capital Program (FCP) is completing all projects comprised of a total funding of $1,176,130,676, actual committed of $980,881,150. Current unspent funding balance is $195,249,526.
M/WBE Participation HISD exceeded minimum M/WBE goal levels of 20% for 2007 bond program • HISD’s M/WBE participation reached nearly 34% in 2007 bond program Contracts awarded to date in 2012 bond program reflect a 51% participation rate by M/WBEs
