  4. JAMSTEC Ocean Buoy (JCAD) CRREL Ice Mass Balance Buoy (IMB) Maintaining the IABP array is a challenge! Enhancement of the International Arctic Buoy Programme (IABP) Collaboration and coordination has been the key to the IABP’s success! AWI - Germany, JAMSTEC - Japan, PSC & CRREL - USA • Uses of IABP Observations: • Weather and ice forecasting • Validation of satellite data • Forcing, validation, and assimilation into numerical models • Climate Research • Longest, continuing record over Arctic Ocean • Over 500 papers have been written using observations from the IABP!
