Grades 1 – 3Highlights • Curriculum concepts of Physical, Earth & Space and Life Sciences are incorporated throughout the trimesters of our school year. Concepts are introduced and reinforced through discovery and hands-on activities. • Lego Robotics and STEM projects are team-taught by the LS technology and science teachers. • Grades 1 and 2 meet on four days of an eight-day cycle, with one of those days meeting as a STEM class. Grade 3 meets five days of an eight-day cycle, with one of those days meeting as a STEM class. • Students develop and keep a science notebook throughout the year. • Cooperative learning is encouraged. • Voluntary opportunity for students in Grades K – 5 to participate in our LS Visitation Science Fair; Blue Ribbon winners compete in The Academy of Science - St. Louis Science Fair. • Voluntary opportunity for students in Grades 3 – 5 to join the LS Science Club which meets on Tuesdays after school from the end of September through the beginning of March.
Fourth and Fifth GradeHighlights • Curriculum concepts of Physical, Earth & Space and Life Sciences are incorporated throughout the trimesters of our school year. Concepts are introduced and reinforced through discovery, inquiry and investigations. • Lego Robotics and STEM projects are team-taught by the LS technology and science teachers. • Grades 4 and 5 meet every day in an eight-day cycle, with two of those days meeting as STEM classes. • Students develop and keep a science notebook throughout the year. • Student access to online textbooks and activities in Grades 4 – 5. • Homework, projects and various forms of assessment are required as assigned.
