  1. TEPPC 2010 Study Program Requests Received • 68 new study requests in 2010 • Summarized in “2010 Study Request” spreadsheet (WECC/TEPPC/documents) 2010 Study Program split into three parts • 2029 studies (carry over from 2009) • 2019 studies (old base case) • 2020 Studies (new base case)

  2. TEPPC 2010 Study Program • 2029 studies complete • Compared a 500 kV build-out againsta 765 kV overlay • Final report available soon (WECC/TEPPC/documents) • 2019 studies being wrapping up • Looking at congestion from 9 regional resource scenarios (12,000 GWh in CA, BC, AB, Coastal NW, MT, WY, NM, So. NV/AZ, No. NV.) • Testing known transmission projects on these scenarios • Results being posted now, report in the fall (WECC/TEPPC/TAS/SWG/documents/2010 study cycle)

  3. Adjacent Criteria Study • One of 2019 study requests was to evaluate congestion impacts of removal of WECC adjacent circuit criteria • To determine impact of criteria change: • Reviewed critical outages in Path Rating Catalog • Pursued existing paths that listed N-2 outages or did not list a critical outage with TSS contact • Future projects: harder to quantify – assumed expected ratings would not change although criteria change would be beneficial for siting projects and reduce cost

  4. Adjacent Criteria Study • 17 path directions listed N-2 outage as critical outage or did not list a critical outage • 14 of those path directions included common towers, had RAS to mitigate N-2 outage, had additional N-1 limiting outages, etc – would not result in path increase w/o criterion • Only 3 paths would result in increases w/o criterion • Path 18 N-S: 8 MW • Path 26 S-N: 1000 MW • Path 51: 400 MW

  5. Adjacent Criteria Study • from 2019 PC1A: • Given limited potential increases, not planning to run this study request. • Will have to describe the request in the 2019 study report.

  6. TEPPC 2010 Study Program • 2020 base case being prepared • Expect case to be ready in September • Built from 2020HS1 • Problems reconciling projects in case and SCG Foundational List • Problems with accuracy of Sig Adds for case • Beginning process to improve basecase prep for TEPPC cases • BCCS should be beneficial for this effort • Will be running several load, resource, DSM, gas price, etc scenarios thru the fall • 2020 report should be available early 2011
