Super Widget Guide on the Side Tutorials Supporting students where they are when they need it scaling instruction at the University of Arizona Libraries. • Student Feedback:“It was fun, interactive, and useful.” • “learned more about jstor then I previously knew” • “the walk-through made it easy to understand” Picture of SW – in D2L designed to push course-appropriate library content and services to all courses using a course management system plans for modifying the tool so that faculty and librarians can work together to efficiently and easily create customized, integrated course guides Elizabeth Kline & Leslie Sult • Background: • Developed and piloted after librarians realized they did not have a good way of efficiently teaching a 150 person general education class. • The initial format was heavily reliant on librarians providing individualized feedback to students • The format has been adapted to allow the Library to reach greater numbers of students with less time through using multiple choice questions to provide students feedback • In the last year, the UA Libraries have created a means by which anyone in the Library can create a tutorial without the assistance of a programmer. We plan on sharing this software in the early summer. • In the past year, there have been 40,000 unique users of the various Guide on the Side tutorials that have been created at the UA Libraries.
