The EuropeAid Water Investment Support Facility (WISF) is assisting international financial institutions (IFIs) in preparing water projects related to the EU Water Initiative in the EECCA region. WISF is carrying out eight project preparation studies with a total budget of EUR 340m. This presentation provides an overview of the WISF, its background, facts and figures, as well as details on the ongoing studies.

Water Investment Support Facility in a Nutshell • WISF is helping IFIs prepare seven EUWI related water projects in EECCA with total budget of EUR 340m • EuropeAid EUR 13.5m co-financing for implementation of EUWI related water projects in EECCA (separate to WISF)

Conclusions • WISF is a EuropeAid tool to help IFIs prepare water projects in EECCA • WISF can be seen as a “good gamble” by EuropeAid – a relatively small project helping mobilise EUR 340m worth of investment in the EECCA water sector • WISF will run until December 2007
