French Immersion • Must take 3 core courses in French in Grade 8, 9 and 10 • Offer 4 courses at Grade 10 level -Langue Seconde(must take) -Sciences Humaines (must take) -Mathematiques or Planification 10 • Students advanced in Mathematiques must take both Mathematiques 10 and Planification 10 • Grade 11 - 2 courses Langue Seconde and Sciences Humaines • Grade 12 – Langue Seconde

6. Honours Program • Application form required. • Students work at an enriched and accelerated pace. • Improve writing skills and sharpen problem solving techniques. • Students will engage in activities that allow them to gain a deeper level of understanding of the topics.

7. Course Selection • Counsellors visit classes starting February 2 • Grade 8 - Math classes • Grade 9 - Science classes • Grade 10-Planning classes • Grade 11-English classes • ESL I - ESL classes • Students take forms home to parents • Students return all forms and attachments to classroom teachers where course selection took place starting in February • ESL I and II students to return forms to their ESL teacher • Course verifications in April

KEY ASPECTS OF THE “Grad Transition Standards” Education and Career Planning -Grad Transition Plan completed in grade 12 Employability Skills -30 hours of work experience completed in grade 11 or 12 Personal Health 150 minutes of Physical Activity per week during grade 10, 11 &12 Student Led Interview -completed in April of their grade 12 year

Career Programs Work Experience Elective Options • Career Preparation 80 hour program aimed at students interested in exploring one or two career areas – completed over grades 11 and 12 2) ACE-IT Programs students earn high school credits by taking focused elective courses all in one area at another Burnaby school while taking required courses at their home school 3) Secondary School Apprenticeship career interest in the trades – student can earn up to 16 credits while being paid for their work
