A. D. Edmonston Pumping Plant Pump Replacement • On November 16, 2005 representatives from Hitachi America came to Sacramento to introduce new participants involved with this contract and to discuss the following contractual and technical issues: • Proposed payment schedule and the payment process, • Details of the overall schedule, • The 50% off site fabrication milestone schedule for the remaining three pumps. • Clarification on some electrical and operational issues. • Interface of the new pump with the existing motor shaft, inlet wall flange, and discharge valve spool. • Procedure for the field performance tests.
A. D. Edmonston Pumping Plant Pump Replacement • The 50% off-site milestone required by the contract specification for the first pump is January 9, 2006 and for the remaining three pumps May 16, 2008. Hitachi asked the Department to revise the dates in accordance to the manufacturing sequence and schedule of these pumps. • The Department staff have proposed the following revised 50% Milestone dates: • First pump 02/06/06 • Second Pump 06/13/08 • Third Pump 02/13/09 • Fourth Pump 10/13/09
A. D. Edmonston Pumping Plant Pump Replacement • The Department inspectors have been inspecting the progress and the work quality for the manufacturing of the pump components including the impellers, diffusers, return channels, suction piping, shaft, weld overlay on pump casing, and welding of vanes to the diffuser bottom and they are pleased with the progress and manufacturing quality.

Edmonston Pumping Plant Pump Replacement • Hitachi is currently manufacturing the pump components and is on schedule for the production of the first unit. • The Department staff is currently reviewing submittals and responding to Hitachi’s questions regarding pump instrumentation requirements and the pumping plant’s cooling water supply.
