Transformations: myths, “The Metamorphosis,” and Pygmalion • 4. Coming of Age: To Kill a Mockingbird • 5. Nonfiction: Enrique’s Journey • 6. Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet • 7. Journeys: The Odyssey and Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time • 8. Poetry Study • 9. Vocabulary • 10. Grammar: Parts of Speech/Sentence, Phrases/Clauses, Punctuation • 11. Independent Reading: read early and often!

  4. What should you do to succeed? • Read. A lot. • Conference with me • Manage your time • Check Moodle! • Do English homework first! (at least some times) • Relax and take joy in stories and writing well • Remember you always have something to learn • Pay attention to the news

  5. About me • Fairmont grad (gasp!) • French and English degree from University of Chicago • 10th year of teaching; 8th year at CHS • Getting married on March 9! Woot! • I’m a sucker for mysteries and HIMYM • Favorite book: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte • Last movie I saw: The Dark Knight Rises • Favorite band: Radiohead. Tickets = A+
