  2. How It Started • Impressments: were British ships that captured U.S. trade ships and forced sailors to work on the war ships.

  3. Key Battles • Burning of Washington D.C. • Attack on Baltimore • Battle on North Point • Bombardment on Fort McHenry

  4. Burning of Washington D.C. • British soldiers were trying to take over the capitol and was successful. • British advanced on the U.S. and the U.S. retreated and the British burned the White House.

  5. Attack on Baltimore • Was a two part battle sea/land. • North Point: Land • Fort McHenry: Land/sea

  6. North Point • Was five miles away from the city Baltimore. • They protected the city making the British retreat.

  7. Bombardment on Fort McHenry • Being under heavy cannon fire they fought back and made the British surrender. • They used their own ships to block the entrance to Baltimore.

  8. Aftermath • The fight lasted three days. • In the result the “Star-Spangled Banner by U.S. man that was watching the rockets explode, his name Francis Scott Key.

  9. The End • The Americans won the war and the Treaty Of Ghent was signed.
