Moldova-SEF was launched in 2013 • Ministry owned the Fair • 79 Projects • 140 participants in its 1st year Current Status of STEM education in Moldova
High Level Long Term Goals • Create district level feeder fairs for the National fair • Increase the number of students participating in science fairs by 100% within 5 years • Implement science inquiry in secondary schools • Include Inquiry Based Approach into In-Service & Pre-Service teacher professional development
High Level Short Term Goals • Integrate Moldova-SEF into the national system of state competitions • Consolidate human capacities for student mentorship in the field of science research & innovation • Establish a bank of mentors to assist students • Create the web site to enable students & mentors with rules & guidance, lessons learned, on-line expertise & consultancy, on-line resources, etc. • Improve the quality of the research projects by extending the research original component & connecting them to national socio-economic needs
Objectivesand Performance Indicators • The ## of student participation target: 20% increase each year; 100% increase in 5 years • All 35 district-SEFs launched in 3 years from now • Each district has an SEF-expert • Number of school mentors increase 5% per year • 400 teachers trained in Project Based Learning (eventually – Inquiry & Thinking Critically w. Data, etc.) in the 1st year • We-site is live
