Gujarat Agriculture at a Glance • Total Geographical Area : 196 lakh hectares • Net Area Sown: 94.81 lakh hectares • Total Cropped Area: 106.31 lakh hectares ( Kharif 86.30 lakh hectares & Rabi-Summer 20.01 lakh hectares ) • Agro Climatic Zones: 8 • Total irrigated area: 36.37 lakh hectares ( 38 % against net area sown 94.81 lakh hectares )

  4. Crop Performance kharif 2006 Area in Lakh Ha , Production in Lakh MT Normal shows the average of 2000-01 to 2004-05 Out of total area sown, about 7.5 lakh ha. area affected due to flood /heavy rain.

  10. Relief Package for flood affected farmers Package -1:For Small and Marginal farmers ( standing crops) 1. For rainfed area @ : Rs. 1500/- per Ha. 2. For irrigated area @ : Rs. 3000/- per Ha. 3. For Perennial crops @: Rs. 4000/- per Ha. Package -2:For other than small and marginal farmers ( standing crops) For Agricultural / horticultural crops @ Rs. 1000/- per Ha ( maximum up to 3 Ha.) Package -3: Assistant to the farmers where agricultural equipment / implement, well , tube well is damaged 1. For BPL farmers@ Rs. 5000/- or 50 % of the cost . 2. For Small and Marginal farmers @ Rs. 5000/- or 25 % of the cost.

For small and Marginal farmers @ Rs. 10000/- per Ha. 2. For land leveling @ Rs. 5000 / per Ha or 25 % for small farmers & 33.33 % for marginal farmers 3. Other than small and marginal farmers @ Rs. 5000/- per Ha with in the limit of 5 Ha Package -5: Seed distribution subsidy . a) For small & marginal farmers : 75 % subsidy of the seed price , b) For other than small & marginal farmers : 50 % subsidy of the seed price ,

STRETEGY FOR RABI / SUMMER Maintain food and nutrition security. • Bring more area under food grain crops. • To increase productivity , • Through better extension , Use of mass media , KCC , • Supply of quality input , Advice to farmers on …., • Use of hybrid / improved seed • Balance use of fertilizer , • Promote IPM, biotechnology, organic farming , • To bring more area under micro irrigation • Crop planning • Adoption of recommended practices

Integrated Extension Activities • Rabi campaign through kisan shibir. • Involving NGOs and private organization in extension services. • Publishing progressive farmers’ innovative practices. • Advice on crop planning and management at micro level by subject experts. • Training to the trainers ( field extension staff ) . • Assistance to the farmers through CSS / State Schemes
