  1. History of the computer and Internet Randall Period 6

  2. First computer invented • It was invented in the late 1930’s. • J. Presper Eckert and Clifford Bell invented it • It was later called Abc (Atanasoff Berry Computer). • It was meant to solve large algebraic equations.

  3. How the term debug came to be • When admiral Grace Murray Hopper found a bug inside her computer and removed it.

  4. When the internet started. • It started in 1983 but public use started in 1992. • They wanted to try sending messages faster and easier. • Joesph Licklider, Lawrence Roberts, and a group of other people.

  5. Babbage’s analytical engine • He started to build it an advanced calculating machine that was supposed to calculate mathematical tables and then print it, • It was supposed to evaluate any mathematical formula. • It its analysis power was greater than his difference engine.

  6. Why Herman Hollerith built a tabulating machine. • It was used to summarize information. • IT was used to process data for the 1890 U.S Census. • It took 7 years to summarize the data but by then in wasn’t useful. • The U.S population had grown rapidly by then

  7. What and where ENIAC was built • It was built at the University of Pennsylvania. • John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert built it. • It filled the entire room and had 6,000 manual switches. • It was used as a calculator because I could calculate faster than their calculators could.

  8. Define Program • A program is a specific set of ordered operations for a computer to perform.

  9. What benefits from the transistor changing vacuum tubes. • It would overheat and damage surrounding parts. • It made things faster

  10. What and who invented the first microcomputer. • Ken-back1was the first micro computer. • Ed Roberts created it in 1971. • It was meant for personal usage

  11. The Binary System • The binary system is made up of 2 unique digits. 1 and 0 • The operations done in the decimal system you can do it in the binary system. • Bits is a basic unit of information. • Bytes is a unit of digital information.
