CSE 3 Fluency with Information Technology Adventures in Computational Thinking By Yu-Chieh Chen Dynamic Webpage Programming with JavaScript Visual Programming with Alice Making Information Available to the World with HTML and webpage Computational Thinking • Computational Thinking is thinking at multiple levels of abstractions, such as • solving problems • designing systems • understanding the powers and limits of human and machine intelligence. • Alice is a silly program which instances can be used to perform a number of animations through methods. • Create webpages in HTML in a hierarchical structure, with hyperlinks, images, and tables. • Use JavaScript to make webpages interactive, such as a simple Black Jack game or an order tracking system. Data Analysis and Visualization with Microsoft Excel Desktop Publishing with Microsoft Word • The spreadsheet is useful to record and calculate numerical data, such as financial statements. • Functions can be used to derive the statistics or to categorize the data. • The spreadsheet can be converted to charts to depict data visually. Presentation of Information with Microsoft PowerPoint • The PowerPoint is useful to present information in slides.
