ShakeCast Project Scope • ShakeCast = ShakeMap BroadCast • Improve basic web-based pager and email earthquake notification services for Caltrans. • Refine preliminary bridge damage assessment methods. • Develop ShakeCast to automate: • Retrieval of ShakeMaps • Analysis of bridge inventory for damage likelihood • Delivery of bridge inspection priorities by pager and email
ShakeCast at Caltrans • Functions: • Automatic delivery of ShakeMap products to Caltrans. • Automatic analysis of potential bridge damage state based on Basoz & Mander methodology using ShakeMap peak spectral accelerations. • Email/Page bridge inspection prioritization lists.
ShakeCast 2 • Public Release Nov., 2007 (at Caltech Earthquake Research Affiliates Meeting, Pasadena) • Automatic delivery and use of ShakeMap for Critical Users • ShakeCast “Lite” for scientists and casual users.
ShakeCast 2 • RSS Feed from USGS ShakeMap Web Pages; Assures access to all ShakeMaps, redundancy, and bandwidth • Priority users include Utilities, Veteran’s Administration Hospitals, FEMA, LA Unified School District, California Dept of Dam Safety & Dept of Transportation
