    2. Premessa La colonna vertebrale rappresenta lo scheletro assile che sorregge il corpo e sulla quale si riflettono tutti i carichi insiti nelle attività motorie. E’ quindi chiara l'importanza che tale struttura riveste sia da un punto di vista dell'armonico sviluppo dell'organismo sia della sua funzionalità. D'altra parte proprio per queste sue peculiarità è evidente come la colonna sia particolarmente vulnerabile ad insulti di vario genere (esogeni ed endogeni) che possono comprometterne l'integrità. Questo rischio per la colonna è particolarmente accentuato, per motivi diversi, nelle età estreme della vita umana con conseguenze varie e importanti.
