LOG 350 Development Strategy • Competency-Based • Enterprise-wide Cradle-to-Grave Life Cycle Focus: Eight complex “threaded” student team exercises span the entire life cycle; from concept refinement through system acquisition, deployment, sustainment and disposal/recycling. It follows the Integrated Defense AT&L Life Cycle Management Framework Chart (Wall Chart) • Integrated Horizontally (Across the Life Cycle) & Vertically (Multi-disciplinary) • Tight Integration across PLM • Leverage CL Modules as prerequisites, read-aheads and homework • Hands-on active student learning • Shifts from “Instructor-led” to “Instructor-facilitated” • Role of the instructor fundamentally different! • Engaged Learner, not “death by PowerPoint”

LOG 350 Status • Course Manager: Dr. Tony Scafati (C&NE Region) • Student Pilot successfully completed: 17-27 Jun 08. • 12 LOG 350 offerings completed to date: • All regions have certified instructors to meet teaching commitment • Most regions completed 3-4 offerings • Log 304 retired as of 1 Oct 08 • Each Region responsible for maintaining material for two exercises. Regional Lead responsible for: • Exercise Currency • Accuracy • Instructor Guide • Evaluation Rubrics • Training other professors

LOG 350 Feedback • Student feedback - Exceptional • “This class was the best I have ever taken, not just at DAU but in any academic setting” • This is an outstanding course that should be mandatory for all senior logistics management specialists. • The best training that I have ever had before • Most productive and greatest take-aways. Minds-on knowledge than most courses lack. Wonderful course, should be mandatory for Program Managers! • Supervisor feedback: • “Two of my employees attended last week…both came back with a very favorable impression of the course” (Army supervisor following first Huntsville offering) • Instructor feedback: • Definitely a huge step up from LOG 304

  11. Continuous Process Improvement First Semi-Annual Hot Wash • Regional leads (Development team) will meet at Ft. Belvoir 21-22 January 2009. • Regional leads responsible for recommending any changes to the baseline course. • Add in a second simulation (MRO/Supply Chain focus) • Enhance Emerging Topics • Instructors to discuss presentation techniques and exercise improvements. • Once approved, baseline will be changed (in Blackboard) to reflect current configuration.
