Review Grants • Check grant status • Check if the faculty member’s role is accurate • Check if dollar amounts are correct; if not, you can self-enter • Are all current grants showing? If not, hand enter new grants • Check for duplications OSP vs. Hand Entered • Are titles and sponsors correct? • Do your collaborators have new grants? Are collaborators listed on your grants? Make Sure Memberships are Up to Date • Are any new Professional Organization Memberships missing? • Add end dates to Organizations that the faculty is no longer a member of • Enter committee work under service UserBeware: Only Memberships (dues paid)! No Committee Work entered in this category!
Make Sure Career Entries are Up-to-Date • Check to see if current position is listed • Check if all past positions have end dates • Are any positions missing? • Are there any gaps? UserBeware: Make sure past positions have end dates
Make Sure Administrative Duties are Up to Date • Has your faculty taken on any new administrative responsibilities? • Should some of the current administrative duties be removed in light of new responsibilities? • Administrative Duties can also be listed in Career or Service • How can you emphasize the administrative aspect of the activity for this section? Make Sure All Service Activities are Up to Date • Add end dates to activities that the faculty member is no longer involved in • Check if the faculty member’s role has changed • Add any new activities that the faculty member is currently involved in • Check that your organization is in the drop down list before selecting “your entity not in the list” UserBeware: List the name of the committee in the description box
Make Sure Publications are Up to Date • Request a download • After the download is complete, review the Download Manager to “Accept” publications that belong to your faculty member or “Reject” publications that do not belong to your faculty member • Check for duplicate publications • Add new book chapters, abstracts, posters, etc. (or any other publication that did not download) • Have any “Pending Publications” been published? If so, add the publication date. • Enter new pending publications (“in press” & “accepted”) • Watch for peer-reviewed vs non peer-reviewed • Refresh any Epub’s that have now been published in hard copy User Beware: Make sure to use correct punctuation for the authors so it will automatically bold the faculty name
Make Sure Teaching Activities are Current • For Primary Instructors: Check to see if new courses are showing in Courses Taught • Hand enter any new courses your faculty member is teaching that are not showing • Select from the course catalog to pre-populate OR • Self-enter • Don’t forget to enter other forms of teaching • Trainee Supervision • Graduate Student Committees • Clinical Teaching • Small Group Teaching • Laboratory Teaching UserBeware: Remember Team Teaching Activities
Last But Not Least . . . • Faculty members absolutely need to be involved • Make an appointment • Start early • Allow plenty of time for faculty and department review • Where to start? • Compare Word document CV to MBM CV • Give faculty member the MBM CV in Word document form with Track Changes activated • Include everything but do not duplicate (with one exception) • Remember collaborative activities • Don’t forget to update the “CV Last Updated Date”
Last But Not Least . . . • Remember the reviewers • They have 210+ CV’s to review • Make it clear, easy to read • Do not make them dig • Help them to help you get promoted, etc. • MBM is happy to come to a faculty or staff meeting as a refresher or for a Q&A session • Ask questions if unsure • “Need Help Now?” • Faculty Administration 587-7882
