Project Scope • Migrating the state’s existing portal and content management system to a newer, more powerful platform that will entail: • Migrate from Vignette V/6 (TCL) to IBM WebSphere Portal Server and IBM/Lotus Web Content Management (ILWCM) • Migrate approximately 125 sites representing 18 State Agencies • Migrate approximately 400,000 content items of which 185,000 are General Content (press releases, news articles, FAQs, links, etc.) • Migrate Civil Service Commission’s eHR content management application to WebSphere Portal
Project Challenges • Scope, level of effort, and data migration complexity underestimated • Performance issues • Contractual payments withheld • IBM providing free hosting for old environment • IBM proactive in resolving project issues • Project successes – migration of hosted web applications • MEDC sites • State Court’s eTicket • UIA’s eRegistration • DMB’s Rapid Copy
Current Project Milestones January 2010 • User acceptance testing of sites • Software remediation as needed for testing defects • Content author training • Site administration training • Define content freeze and site structure freeze dates • Checkpoint – January 22 February 2010 • Phase 1-2 site launches, at two week intervals (subject to checkpoint evaluation) March 2010 • Phase 3-4 site launches, at two week intervals (subject to checkpoint evaluation) November 2009 • Content migration for sites • Migration process remediation • Phase 1 site review by IBM • Software test and remediation • Ongoing performance testing • Checkpoint – November 30 December 2009 • Content migration continues • eMichigan review sites • Content author training • Site administration training • Checkpoint – December 22
