  2. Communicable Diseases • Diseases that are spread from person to person by the passing of germs. • Germs are microorganisms that can get into your body and cause infection. • These diseases are contagious.

  3. Types of germs • Viruses – the cause of most communicable diseases. • Bacteria– 2nd leading cause of communicable diseases • Protozoa • Fungus

  4. How Communicable diseases Spread • Direct Contact – touching and kissing. • Indirect Contact – sneezing and coughing. • Animal & Insect Contact – bug and animal bites. • Other Contact – contaminated food and water.

  5. Examples of Communicable Diseases • Cold • Flu • Chicken Pox • H1N1 • HIV and AIDS • Mono • Meningitis • Hepatitis
