  1. Update on LS1 Activities W.Baldini, N. Bondar, O.Maev,B. Schmidt LS1 Muon Meeting June-26th 2014

  2. Ongoing Activities • Fixing problematic chambers in M2-5 (broken and noisy FEBs): ongoing, now we are in M4, chambers before unmounting them from the wall, we had several cases where the problem apparently disappeared (mainly noisy FEBs). • M1A and C are now accessible, removal of chambers is very difficult, so we will probably unmount only the worst cases (dead channels). • Starting from next week there will be the maintenance of the Marathons PS (replacement of the water-cooling connectors). We will start from C side for about one week and A side afterward. So the detector will be OFF: • June 30 – July 8 C-side • July 9- 18 A side • We still have problems with system configuration, probably due to ELMBs. Beat has written a program to reset all of them and will try today the effect. If it doesn’t work we NEED expert to investigate (Davide/Valerio) • We have checked the LV of the SB crates and only Q4-M23 looks slightly lo: 4.76V (nominal: 5.0V). All others are ok (from 4.95 to 5.1V).

  3. Ongoing Activities • Connectivity test (C side) resumed for a few days but now is still stuck due to the ELMBs problem… • We have to plan as precisely as possible also intervention on GEMs • DSS Udate: now if the air cooling stops all the station is switched off, maybe we should modify so that, possibly, only the FEBs PS are turned off (no ODE, SB, HV etc… which are not affected). Opinions? • HV: • Re-conditioning of M4R4 and problematic chambers: DONE • HV Connectors (RDB-racks end) improving: DONE • Check mapping of PNPI system for A-C side done for C side  OK • Cables still to be connected • Migration to CCPCs in progress, problem with USB-RS232 driver (WIN2008), now HV system controlled by the old PCs • Problem with a CAEN 3535P module

  4. Commissioning week: June 23-27, • It was a “light” comm. Week, 1 day of global running • No major issues, 1 ODE in M1 to be fixed, some discrepancies in the data consistency check with L0muon. We should check the mapping of the TELL1s • For more details, as usual you can refer to the e-logbook: http://lblogbook.cern.ch/MUON/

  5. Report about the M1-SPD interference • Last Friday, while opening M1C the support of a GEM touched the SPD • Apparently no damage for the GEM (but we should double check) • What happened? • The aluminum foil that protects the PAD of the SPD was clearly detached (it was fixed only with tape… see next slide) and it was out of the geometrical envelope • While moving M1 it hung to the GEM support • Movement was immediately stopped so nothing really bad happened • Also AlessadroSaputi came to check and he was of the same opinion • Yesterday Pascal and Robert fixed the detached aluminum foils (also in other positions…)

  6. Here M1 and SPD are very close (<1cm) This white strip is the tape that keeps the Protection-aluminum foil of the SPD-pad and that it was probably detached before moving M1
