Being More Tech Savvy • Total Trouble Shooting • Increasing Communication using the Internet • Q and A David Sohn – SC CKC
Trouble Shooting • Basics on How “stuff” (A/V equipment) works • Input / Output Systems • Correct Cables / Adapters • Correct Signal Send / Receive • Understanding Programs Used
Input / Output System • Every Combination of Equipment can be viewed as both a sender or receiver of information • Complication is to make sure you are sending an output, output go to inputs, inputs receive output.
Signal Pathway Source Input / Output Input / Output Final
Correct Cables / Adapters • Do You have the right cable for the job?
Video • Digital Visual Interface (DVI) 1999 • Video Graphics Array (VGA) 1987 • Coaxial cable (F connector) • Separate video (S-Video, S-VHS) • RCA plug / Phono / Composite • USB
Apple Land If you know what this is, you hopefully still have the adapter! Mini-DVI Mini-DVI => VGA / DVI adapter needed for most video projectors / monitors
Audio • RCA • 1/8” • 1/4” • XLR • L / R Wires
Correct Signaling • Making Sure you devices are set to send or receive information based on what you want. • Check to make sure signal senders are sending information, for example, Laptop Computers, DVD-players, cable boxes, MP3 players, etc. • Check to make sure signal receivers are receiving information from correct source / source setting, for example, video projectors, mixing boards, home theatre systems, etc.
Understanding Programs Used • Power Point, Flash, Swish • Media Players – WMP, Win Amp, VLC, QuickTime, Realplayer • Picture Viewers – Windows Slide Show, Slide Show Pro EXAMPLE
