NM-DMS Enhancements List StatusMartin Bass ABB Annual Users’ Group Meeting August 27 – 31, 2006
Enhancement List Status – The Numbers • List developed at 2006 Focus Group • List prioritized via e-mail votes • Input received from 17 utilities • Votes received from 11 utilities • List contains 49 enhancements • Top 10 contains 13 items (ties for 4th, 6th and 9th place) • ABB has reviewed list • ABB plans to implement 14 features this year (Release 3), and 2 more next year (Release 4)
Drag Outage Symbol • Currently, partially restored outages show the outage symbol at location of original outage • Confusing when outage is not shown at isolation point • Was originally done by design, because there could be multiple isolation points
Initial Outage Outage at Open Switch
Close Switch – Outage Partially Restored Open fuses before closing switch Partial Restore With Two Open Fuses
Move Outage Symbol • Enhancement will allow outage to be moved to either of the two open fuses • Outage will still show in outage history as being at switch • OMI locate from outage status will locate to new location • Entry in Outage Log should show which user performed the operation
Move Outage Symbol • Different ways being considered: • Drag outage symbol in Ormap • Use standard device selection to allow user to pick:
Move Outage Symbol • Different ways being considered: • Use something similar to candidate outages list (comes up when removing jumper) • User would select one isolation device from list, determined by tracing:
Customers That Will Be Affected by an Outage • Existing operation confirmation dialog shows list of affected transformers • Could be modified to show customers in a separate tab
Customers That Will Be Affected by an Outage • Existing operation confirmation dialog shows list of affected transformers • Could be modified to show customers in a separate tab • Tab would allow list to be saved to an Oracle table • Free format text field allows planned outage to be specified • Would like a process to be executed afterwards – Oracle stored procedure Tab Here
Customers That Will Be Affected by an Outage • Or, could create a switching plan in simulation mode • Execute switching plan • Generate list of customers • Switching plan approach currently planned for Release 4, could be copied back to Release 3
Landbase Performance • Allow the loading of specific landbase layers into memory • Used for layers that will be on all the time, such as county or state outlines. • New database settings will be added to specify which layers are in memory
Show All Crews in Outage Status Dialog • If more than one crew assigned to an outage, outage status dialog currently shows earliest crew in most advanced state, e.g.: • Crew Martin is Arrived at 10:00 am • Crew Bill is Enroute at 9:00 am • Dialog will show crew Martin, because he is Arrived
Show All Crews in Outage Status Dialog • Outage status dialog will be modified to show a tree of crews • Implement an 'Expand' function to show multiple entries for the same outage so that assigned crews can be shown • Expanded list should allow operations on crews to be performed, such as ETA, status change, etc • An indicator should show whether the outage has multiple crews assigned so that the user doesn’t have to expand
Device Category in Outage Status • Display additional device category information in outage status - fuse, recloser, circuit breaker • Additional column will be added • Existing column, showing ‘DEVICE’, ‘SERVICE TRANSFORMER’, ‘CUSTOMER’, ‘SOURCE’ will remain, but can be turned off
DSCADA Freeze Time Window • Current ASCII SCADA interface causes existing downstream outages to be frozen when an open operation is received • Intent is to prevent loss of nested outage information
DSCADA Freeze Time Window • Additional calls received after SCADA operation, but with a timestamp earlier than SCADA operation are also made part of frozen outage • However, if the SCADA clock is behind DMS time, calls do not freeze as they should • Solution: Add a time window to apply to calls so that they freeze
Default 'Exact Match' in Ormap Locate to Unchecked • Currently box defaults to Exact Match being checked • Add preference to default to unchecked, as many searches are not exact • Enter should initiate the search • If the search yields only one result, Ormap should locate automatically
Remove 1st 100 Limit in Affected Customers • Initial list will show 100 • Count still needed • Scrolling down would automatically fetch the next 100 • Also add a ‘next page’ button • And a ‘fetch all’ button
Blank Out Operation Confirmation Field Time • Blank out field time stamp in operation confirmation dialog, rather than defaulting to current time/date • Operator is required to enter field time/date (e.g. gray out OK button until field is populated). • Time entry should allow calendar dialog for time entry or keyboard • Keyboard entry should be configurable to not require entry of seconds. • Colon should be optional • Behavior controlled by a user preference
Bulk ETR updates via Outage Status Dialog • Outage Completion Dialog can be used to restore multiple outages and assign bulk ETR updates • However, duplication of functionality between newer Outage Detail dialog and Outage Completion Dialog • Confusing for operators to use two different dialogs for same (or similar) purpose • Solution: • Allow multiple outages to be selected • Support ETR dialog display/entry for selected outages
Bulk ETR updates via Outage Status Dialog Need to enable ETOR button for multi-select
Isolated kVA to Exclude Abandoned Xfmrs • Isolated kVA dialog in Ormap shows transformers that are not electrically connected • Used for data debugging • Add checkbox and filter out transformers with the abandoned attribute set in the load table (new attribute) • Add second checkbox to filter out transformers that have zero (or negative!) number of customers • Should not show planned additions. If it does, add a checkbox to filter them out • The dialog will be resizable
Percent kVA Downstream • Relic from 3.0 UNIX version • For old version, click on a line device to get connected kVA information per traced feeder • Total kVA • Downstream kVA • Percent kVA • Solution: • Add traced kVA information Right Mouse menu option
