What is a WebQuest • Internet-based • Student-centered • Inquiry-based • Constructivist approach • Real-world situation (or seemingly real-world) • Realistic approach to problem solving • Multiple representations/perspectives • Reflective practice
Components - Introduction • Introduce students to the topic of the WebQuest. • Needs to be motivational • Should include an overview of what they will experience.
Components - Task • Explains what is expected of the students. • Requires that students solve a problem. • Students must create a product. • Needs to be clear and concise. • Be creative; don’t do the same old “write an essay” activity.
Components - Process • Give students list of steps to accomplish task. • Give students a list of specific resources (websites) that they will need. • Provide information as to how to organize information that they will gather.
Components - Assessment • Tell how you will assess the students. • Create rubric. • Be specific.
Components - Credits • Give credit where it is due! • Give overall listing of the websites that you used, and you are going to link back to the website. • Give credit for each image that you used, as well as a link back to the website from which the image was downloaded. • Credits must be in APA style.
