  1. Public Transport Services Presentation for Australian IBM Maximo User Group South Australia Oct 27th, 2010 • Speakers: • Paul Baker - Rail Maintenance Manager • Vincent Lammerse - Maximo Project Manager • Anomi Bruynius - Tolerro

  2. PTS background • Background of Public Transport Services • SAR (South Australian Railways): 1854 – 1978 • STA (State Transport Authority): 1974 – 1994 • TA (TransAdelaide): 1994 – 2010 • PTS (Public Transport Services): 2010 – 1/10/2014 2

  3. 1854: South Australia first colony to build railway Horse drawn tramway from Goolwa to Port Elliot 1856: First mainline Railway built between City and Port Adelaide (now the Outer Harbor line) 1857: Railway built between City and Gawler (Gawler line) 1882: Grange line built coming off Outer Harbour line 1883: Adelaide Hills line built from City to Bridgewater (now the Belair line) 1920: Railway had been let to run down, was outdated and inadequate 1922 – 1930: William Webb Railways Commissioner – led substantial and expensive improvements to infrastructure & rollingstock 1929: Broadgauge steam railway from City to Glenelg transferred to Adelaide Municipal Tramways Trust, electrified and converted to Tramway (now Glenelg Tramline) Rail Network again ran down due to Australians love of the automobile Adelaide Railway History 1/10/2014 3

  4. 2008: SA Government announced investment of $2 billion over 10yrs to deliver a comprehensive upgrade of public transport services for Adelaide Aust Government supported and increased investment to over $2.6 billion and accelerated some key components Significant element of investment is to revitalise Adelaide’s passenger rail network Upgrades include: Track upgrade of all lines (cement sleepers, formation, ballast etc) Extending Noarlunga line to Seaford Electrification of some lines New Trains & Trams (larger fleet) Increasing frequency Tramline extensions And more…. Railway Renaissance 1/10/2014 4

  5. So far the following have been completed: Belair Line upgrade South Rd overpass for tramline Tramline extended to Entertainment Centre New trams purchased Port Viaduct upgraded Major stations upgraded Gawler Line upgraded to Mawson Lakes Coming Soon: New Railcar Maintenance Facility – Dry Creek Noarlunga to Brighton upgrade Mawson Lakes to Gawler upgrade Brighton to Goodwood upgrade Seaford Extension Electrification New Electric railcars Railway Renaissance 1/10/2014 5

  18. Start of Maximo Phase 1

  19. The Plan

  20. Approach Data gathering & reconciliation Change Management Project Management

  21. Project Decisions

  22. Data Decisions

  23. Maximo Linear Module • All signals point assets have user defined relationships (Sits on) to the linear corridor.

  24. Panasonic Tough Book • Main drivers for choosing Tough Books: • Reliability • demonstrated history of low failure rates (< 2%) over an extended period of time. • In-built HSDPA supports the Telstra NextG network. • In-built GPS • Supports the same vehicle mounts as upgrades occur • Specifications • Core 2 Duo 1.2Ghz • 160GB SATA HD • 10.4" XGA Touch Screen • 2 + 2 GB Ram

  25. Vehicle Install Failed Risk Assessment

  26. Vertical Dock Behind Passenger seat passed risk assessment

  27. Challenge: Assigning Work to Crews Business requirement: • PM work orders to be assigned to (2 man) crews based on network section without the use of a scheduler. • Work completion needs to include who performed the work (regulatory req.) The Challenge: • PM WO’s assigned to crew automatically, but Syclo requires individual to log-in and complete WO. Our Solution: • Bulk update report, updating the supervisor field for team leads (Syclo picks up on supervisor field)

  28. High Level Work Assignment Process

  29. Challenge: Meter Readings in Syclo Business requirement: • Take meter readings in the field for track circuits, Schunt values, battery voltages etc. And be able to perform trend analysis on site. The Challenge: • Track circuits have readings for TX and RX in different locations. Track circuit loaded as one asset in Maximo. • One WO per track circuit • Trend analysis requires all historic meter readings side by side, Syclo supports one previous reading per meter • Maximo reports not available via Syclo

  30. Track Circuits LocBox 3 LocBox 2 LocBox 1 Rx1 Tx2 Rx3 Rx4 Tx1 Rx2 Tx3 Tx4 Rx5 Tx5 • Assets in Maximo: • Tx/Rx1 • Tx/Rx2 • Tx/Rx3 • Tx/Rx4 • Tx/Rx5 Signals maintenance fitter takes all readings for each location box. One Work order per Asset
