Interiorscape Proposal HORT 3140 Interiorscaping
Details and Current Issues • Clients: Two college Females • Space: small – medium social area • Location: Two bedroom apartment; The Reserve @ Athens, Ga 30605 • Air Problems: Current air circulation is poor, resulting in air quality that is thick and stuffy
Current Aesthetic Issues • The sparse living room is lacking in the cozy feeling the residents desire. • The bare space under the entry mirror currently is a collection zone for clutter. With the idea of extending the outside into the entryway, the residents would like to replace the mess with friendly plants. • Considerations will have to be put into the fact that plants in the entryway will be next to an opening and closing door.
Light and Temperature Measurements • The two natural light sources are in the far left corner of the room. The artificial sources are a single upstanding lamp with a 60w light bulb in the right corner, and an overhead entryway light bulb above the door. • The red dot = 768 light level • The light blue = 275 light level • The purple = 315 light level • General temp in space is ~ 72*F • Relative Humidity = 40.2% • Considering this is a relatively small apartment social area we suggest small – medium sized plants.
Plant Type and Placement • For the space under the window we suggest the Ficus cyathistipula. (green) • This plant is very flexible, happily living in high – med/ low light levels, as well as hot - warm temperatures. • For the space in the corner behind the end table we suggest the Chamaedorea hooperiana 'King Maya’. (dark blue) • This plant is appropriate because it is happy in high – low light levels as well as hot – cool temperatures.
Plant Type and Placement • For the open space next to the entryway we chose the Chamaedorea hooperiana 'King Maya’. (dark blue) • Due to frequent traffic in and out of the main door we’ve chosen a durable plant that is common in halls and corridors. • The Chamaedorea hooperiana 'King Maya’ is great for this space because it can deal with high – low light levels, as well as deal with hot – cool temperatures, as low as 45*F. • This plant selection will also create visual balance with the ‘King Maya’ in the left corner.
Container Selection With the resident’s color scheme in mind as well as the size required for each plant, these containers were selected for suggestion. • Eggplant color • Foam material • 19” • $15 each
Final Totals • Materials: $117.28 • Installation: $135.00 • Taxes (7%): $17.66 $269.94
Care Recommendation • Clients who are busy and often not home could opt for our weekly check up service. This option comes with a plant replacement guarantee if the plants should get hurt under our technician's watch. • Clients who are home often and would prefer a more hands on relationship with their plants, can choose to get our care demonstration on site and attempt to care for their plants themselves. Replacement services are available with this option for an additional fee. • Each option is designed to suit the specific needs of our clients to ensure total satisfaction. • We hope this presentation has been beneficial for your needs and look forward to making our ideas your reality soon!
