A Canadian Network Twelve food & bio-product technology Centres have combined to become a “national” asset to the value added agri-food, seafood, bio-resource, and natural health products industries.

Food industry findings • Processors are in need of more product launch and market access support from the Centres. • Looking for expertise throughout the entire commercialization process. • Medium and large companies looking for partners to assist them with new technology advancement. • New product runs and experimentation could be handled more cost effectively at a food Centre rather than interrupting processing schedules.
FOODTECH Objectives • Establish a national chain of collaborative “Centres of Technical Expertise” (CTEs) that link directly to the strategic needs of the industry while supporting government innovation and prosperity initiatives. • Optimize investment in capabilities and capacities in order to serve the innovation and commercialization needs of the industry.
FOODTECH Objectives • Become the globally recognized “technology commercialization provider of choice” and portal for industry to develop value-added products through partnerships, quality service and an understanding of industry needs and market opportunities. • Be the leading advocate for innovation, emerging technologies, commercialization best practices, and technology transfer investment in food and bio-products.
Enabling Commercialization FOODTECH members are involved in innovation and commercialization in the following ways: • Proactively sourcing technologies and linking them with industry • Progressing technology through applied research to product launch • Educating and informing industry of technologies, their applications and market opportunities • Providing technical assistance and business support throughout the development and launch phases.
