  2. Empire Magazine reviewing James Bond: Die Another Day

  3. Buzz magazine reviews Lord of the rings: Return of the ring

  4. Images As the first things that stand out, the Images have to be bold and exciting. Die another day’s large picture filling the right page involves Pierce Brosman holding a gun and looking suspiciously ahead combined with Halle Berry starring at Pierce giving him a important and fierce stance. This shows the readers the 2 stars immediately allowing the box office actors to attract a wider audience simply from their presence and also to a certain extent, the genre. This is coupled with a smaller Action shot of James Bonds Aston Martin jumping through the air, providing an exciting shot for the audience. The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) obviously doesn’t have jumping car scenes but shows a clip which appears to be behind the scenes of characters in full dress, giving the impression the article will have wide access to The film with ‘behind the scenes access’. It does however share the images of the films main characters from some recognisable shots surrounding the text, giving an exciting and full design. Design As I have already mention, the design for the LOTR double page spread is a full design with 9 pictures surrounding the text. This makes the page enjoyable to look at with lots of interest points immediately presented. The writing is presented in the standard left to write format all in one place making it simple and easy to read but inside the writing its self there are 4 fonts keeping the reader stimulated with key points highlighted. There is ,fascinatingly, a break away question directed to Scarlett Johansson with no relevance to the film which could be a ploy to interest the reader in the rest of the magazine. Bond is presented similar with the standard format with the writing in one easy to read place how ever is has two separated sections. One gives the film a rating from 5 stars, an “Unmissable” film down to 1 star, a “Tragic” film, which Die another day receives 5 stars from. The other section provides some key information such as release date, actors key people involved in making the film and the film ‘In a Nutshell’. This again provides a lot of interest and a break from the main bulk of the text shown again with the picture of the jumping Aston Martin.

  5. Text Empire Magazine, uses its rock themed title with red and balck colours in a bold title at the top reading THE REVIEWS. This makes the tile clear and gives order t to the page with the next step down giving the overall impression of the film in a star rating. In this star rating it also has a few words to accompany which use fairly inofrmallanguag for example. 1 star rating is called Tragic – don’t say we didn’t warn you. This is also interesting as it adreess the reaader directly making him/her feel more involved. There are Bold pieces of text for things of interest E.G the title, a persons reiviewand a Tag line but mainly the text is plain and simple, apealing to a wide auidence. Similarties are clear Between Buzz magazine’s review; simple black text, larger for title and sub title just below it. How ever this one uses white text in a red and blue box to the side of the main text giving depth and a differance, making the page more exciting. Although Empire does use this technique, it is only once inside a box taht already defines the text.
