Television Television became a major source of communication in the 1950s. People were allowed to see what was happening around the world by watching the news. Television was especially popular with the youth. Today, it still serves as a medium for information and entertainment. Television also have shows to educate people such as the History and Discovery Channels.
Radio Nowadays, people don’t listen to the radio as much anymore for information but in the 1930s, the radio was one of the main ways to be aware of national and global events. During the Great Depression, President Franklin Roosevelt’s “fireside chats” on the radio gave Americans hope and allowed them to have faith in the U.S. government. Today, people usually listen to the radio for music although news stations such as 1010 WINS still provide news.
Text Messaging Ppl [People] think texting actually makes spelling worse by typing lyk [like] dis [this] but texting allows 4 [for]more creativity 2 [to] say diff [different] words in shorthand. In addition, u [you] learn a new lingo [language]…(sort of).
Newspapers Newspapers are shorter than books but that does not mean the writing styles of journalists are of poorer quality when compared to those of classic authors. The New York Times is one of the many newspapers known for its good writing quality. Newspapers alsofocus on current events and the modern world.
YouTube Videos YouTube does not only provide music, funny videos but also videos with Instructions. Many YouTube videos can teach people practical skills, such as how to do laundry and fold clothes, scientific skills (how to use scientific instruments) and recreational skills (how to play certain sports).
Music Most of the songs we listen to today is about love, loss, regret and pain. By emotionally connecting with lyrics of songs, we are able to portray the same emotions when we have to write our feelings on paper. Some songs are created to help us learn lessons. One such song is Peter WeatherWall’s “Photosynthesis”.
