  5. This programme, which will be run by the NHS Leadership Academy is intended to fast-track the best NHS doctors and nurses and attract top people from outside, to be the next generation of senior leaders of the health service. It is anticipated to include: • time at a leading business school – early discussions with leading academic institutions are underway • a six-month post with substantive responsibility at a top performing  NHS trust and • an industry placement with a top firm.  Three quarters of those fast-tracked will be senior doctors and nurses, so clinicians will learn management and business skills both in academic courses and in placements at leading corporations.   The other quarter of candidates will be talented individuals who come from outside the NHS - but who share its values - to inject new skills, ideas and leadership expertise into the health service.  Due to start in spring 2014, successful candidates will be ready to take up board-level positions from early 2015. Competition for places will be exceptionally tough and candidates will continue to be rigorously assessed throughout the course. The course structure includes: • Three-month executive education: includes intensive induction into the NHS for external entrants and rapid introduction to business management for clinical entrants. • Seven-month learning from the best: six-months at a top NHS Trust; one-month industry placement. • Continued career management: three-year chief executive career development strategy; coaching, mentoring, networking preparing candidates for a successful entry to the NHS National News New fast Track Programme announced by Secretary of State Nursing & Midwifery Leadership Programmes NHS Top Leaders Master Class Series: Board Decision Making Date – Tuesday 12 November, 2013 Location – Macmillan Cancer Support, 89 Albert Embankment, London, SE1 7UQ Time – 4-7pm Details attachedin flyer We have filled all the places available to us for the Frontline Nursing and Midwifery programme and currently have a waiting list We do still have 10 places on the Senior Operational Leaders/Aspiring Nurse Director programme.
