What do our fitness tests assess? • Sit & Reach – Flexibility • Pull Ups – Muscular Strength • Sit-ups – Core abdominal strength • Shuttle Run – Agility • Mile Run – Endurance
Overload Principle • The basis for fitness enhancement • To increase fitness, a person must perform more work than s/he is generally accustomed to doing.
Muscular Strength • The amount of weight that you can lift • Muscle soreness is normal when lifting.
Fitness • As you exercise your body composition improves due to buring fat and increasing muscle mass. • To improve fitness you should exercise within your target heart rate zone. • The number of times your heart beats per minute is your Heart Rate. • Exercise helps prevent diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
Types of Sports • A Team sport is a sport in which you participate as part of a team. • Hockey, football, soccer, volleyball • An individual sport is a sport that is performed by yourself. • Tennis, Golf
