  1. 12 October, 1492 Dearest Family, It has been a long trip. I am on the Pinta ship. There are three ships , mine which is the Pinta , and our captain is Martin Pinzon, the Nina, which has Vincent Pinzon as the captain, and the Santa Maria which has Christopher Columbus as its captain. Christopher Columbus has pushed the crew hard. when we landed on land , itfelt great ! It was a big accomplishment! On the island of Guanahani, some people don’t wear clothes! Christopher Columbus named the island San Salvador. People there have a little gold. When we finallygot there, we were so excited ! On the island, we traded things like parrots ,balls of cotton, spears ,and glass beads. I miss you and love you. Love , Miranda Schwocho
