  2. Celti e germani • Popoli di lingua indoeuropea, che sono pervenuti alla civiltà superiore solo dopo il contatto con Roma • Celti (390 a.C. arrivano sino a Roma). Documentazione tarda e lacunosa. L’unico nome sicuramente comune tra Gallia e Irlanda è Lugdunum. Lug, eroe della battaglia di Mag Tured, si impone per il suo potere magico (scacchi). = eroe culturale? • Non è ipotizzabile un politeismo panceltico, ma un fondo religioso comune: i Druidi, come i brahamani, sono una casta sacerdotale

  3. I Germani • Tiwaz (cfr. Tuesday, martedì) – Tyr [Dyauspitar, Zeus, Iuppiter] Essere supremo celeste, dio guerriero • Donar (cfr. Donnerstag, giovedì) – Thorr, dotato di un martello (come il vajra di Indra e la clava di Heracles) combatte Vrta, il serepente cosmico e i ‘giganti’ che abitano l’Utgard cioè il ‘mondo di fuori’. • Wodan (cfr. Wednesday, mercoledì) – Odin, dalla stessa radice del tedesco Wut = furore, bellico, magico e poetico
