Administration • Years of Service Recognition Program • Award packets mailed in the month of a recipients anniversary • Recipients have 90 days to select an award from the time the packet is shipped before a default gift is sent • Around 70 items to choose from for each award year • 173 award packets mailed • Awards delivered within eight business days on average
Administration • Review of All Recognition Programs • Currently receiving feedback from across campus regarding existing programs to determine employee satisfaction • Will be evaluating feedback to make recommendations for revisions to existing programs, possibly eliminating less desired ones, or developing a new program
Employee Relations • Analyzing and revising processes • Revising documents • Developing toolkits and training • Grievance Policy Review • Evaluating EAP services
Training & Development • Supervisory Skills Certification • Assessing training needs • Developing new training • Evaluating training approaches
Benefits • Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) & Tax Deferred Annuities (TDA) Vendor Recertification/ Consolidation • Employer Leverage LOWER FEES • Vendor Accountability • Centralize Recordkeeping • Improve Participation • Adopt Effective Technology • Ensure Compliance • Promote long-term vision (retirement readiness)
Compensation • Staff Classification & Compensation Study (SCCS) • Job Analysis Questionnaire (JAQ) data collection is in progress and will be completed April 2008 • MAG is conducting benchmark position surveys for comparative salary data • Meetings with administrators and employee focus groups will be conducted this summer • Project is expected to be completed in FY 2009
Compensation • Staff Increases FY 2009 • Effective 9-1-08 an Across-the-Board increase of 1% for all classified titles • Also effective 9-1-08 there will be a Merit increase opportunity for eligible staff • Criteria for recommending merit will be announced in July 2008 for distribution of a pool of 3.2% of total FY 2008 staff salaries.
Compensation • Minimum Wage Increase • Effective July 24, 2008, federal minimum wage increases to $6.55 per hour • All salaried appointments must be equivalent to or above the increased minimum wage rate • Hourly appointments will be adjusted if below $6.55 per hour after July 24, 2008 • Effective July 24, 2009 federal minimum wage will again increase, to $7.25 per hour
Employment • Completed internal customer survey in February for Employment area - reviewing all practices/procedures to align with organizational needs • Implementation of new background check policy & procedures
Systems • Re-Design of the HR Website • Conducted focus groups • Simplified navigation • Improved search capabilities • Improved content • Fewer clicks to get to themost accessed pages
Records • Evaluation of time and labor issues, practices & procedures • Develop new timekeeper training programs • Review & update current leave policies • Develop valuable timekeeper tools • Forms update and review • Systems review for potential enhancements via self-service modules
