Heidi PaciniStaff Engineer Nomogram and Interface Reviews, 2022 CCTA October 12, 2011 SWG Transmission Team Conference Call
Review of Transmission Team Tasks Complete • Remove obsolete interfaces in the TEPPC dataset • Identify a consistent naming convention, and rename remaining interfaces • Review monitored branches, and add more as needed • Review interface definitions and ratings • Review nomogram definitions • Identify additional interfaces/nomograms missing from the TEPPC dataset • Reconcile the 2020 TEPPC topology against the list of 2022 transmission assumptions from the SCG Complete Complete
Since we last met… • The SCG completed a review of the TEPPC nomograms, and list of monitored interfaces • 2022 CCTA were finalized by the SCG • Both the SCG and the TT have reviewed TEPPC’s interface definitions and ratings
SCG Input on TEPPC Nomograms • See word document posted to meeting page for details • Input provided on: • Yet to receive feedback from anyone on: • TOT 2A 2B 2C nomogram • TOT 4A nomogram
SCG Input on TEPPC Interface List • One additional interface requested: • Intrastate AZ Palo Verde East • Rating +/- 8010 MW • Elements: PALOVRDE_15021 to WESTWING_14005 1 PALOVRDE_15021 to WESTWING_14005 2 JOJOBA_15089 to KYRENE_15011 1 PALOVRDE_15021 to RUDD_15061 1 HASSYAMP_15090 to PINAL_W_15088 1 • Use in both 2010 and 2022 datasets
2022 Common Case Transmission Assumptions (CCTA) • Based on criteria • Boardman-Hemingway 500 kV (B2H) • Cascade Crossing • Central Ferry - Lower Monumental (Little Goose Area Reinforcement) • Delany-Palo Verde 500kV Line • Gateway Central Project, Sigurd - Red Butte - Crystal 345 kV Line • Gateway South Project – Segment #2 (Aeolus-Mona 500 kV) • Gateway West Transmission Project Segment 1A – Windstar to Jim Bridger 230 kV, 500 kV • Gateway West Segment 1B – Jim Bridger to Southeast Idaho (Bridger – Populus single circuit 500 kV) • Gateway West Segment 1C – Southeast Idaho – South Central Idaho (Populus – Midpoint 500 kV) • Gateway West Segment E – South to Southwest Idaho (Midpoint – Hemingway 500 kV) • Hassayampa - North Gila 500 kV #2 Line • I-5 Corridor Reinforcement Project (Castle Rock - Troutdale) • Interior to Lower Mainland Transmission (ILM) Project • Path 8 Upgrade/Colstrip Transmission Upgrade • San Luis Valley-Calumet-Comanche • Tehachapi Upgrade • Walla Walla to McNary 230 kV (Energy Gateway Segment A) • West of McNary Reinforcement Project Group 1 (McNary - John Day) • West of McNary Reinforcement Project Group 2 (Big Eddy - Knight)
2022 Common Case Transmission Assumptions (CCTA), continued • Based on construction status • Sunrise Powerlink • SWIP South • Devers - Colorado River 500 kV (DCR) Transmission Line Project • Midway-Waterton • Pawnee-Smoky Hill • Pinal Central-Tortolita • Pinal West-Pinal Central-Browning (SEV) • Gateway Central Project – Mona to Oquirrh 500 kV (Energy Gateway Segment C)
Variations from 2020 Foundational Projects List • Additions • Path 8 Upgrade/Colstrip Transmission Upgrade • Projects in-service • Hughes & Wyodak South • BC-US Intertie Upgrade • Path 36 TOT 3 Upgrade • Removals • Sierra • TCP - Harry Allen to Northwest* • TCP - Northwest to AmargosaValley* • CCPG • Archer Interconnection • Alberta • MATL • All others from 2020 Foundational Project List *Can be added if resources associated with the lines are included in the dataset
Next Steps with the 2022 CCTA • SCG – finalize documentation of CCTA • Staff – • Request updated/new epc files from project sponsors • Update/add project configurations in 2022 dataset as needed • Remove projects from 2022 dataset that are no longer on “the list”
Review of TEPPC Interface Definitions and Ratings – Interface Additions Comments 1. New based on CCTA 2. Remove “Merchant” for 2022 case, leave in for 2010 case. 3. Nevada Power interface 4. CCTA
Review of TEPPC Interface Definitions and Ratings – Interface Modifications Comments Do not change interface definition. Keep track of changes to interface rating for future study cycles. Limit magnitudes are now symmetric Limit magnitudes are now symmetric May be more limiting that WOR and other upstream paths Limit magnitudes are now symmetric
Outstanding Issues • Review of intrastate CA interfaces: SCIT, PG&E-Bay, SDG&E Import, Southern CA Imports • Review of intrastate WA/OR interfaces: West of John Day, West of McNary, West of Slatt, North of Hanford • New interfaces resulting from a CCTA project (Aeolus West, Aeolus South Paths) • Interfaces that may be affected by CCTA
