BTSA Induction Program Requirements • Sign up for BTSA (Year 1 only) www.btsa.ca.gov • Attend Professional Learning Communities (PLC) for Year 1 &Year 2
BTSA Induction Program Requirements for Participating Teachers • Meet with Support Provider regularly • Complete Induction Standards 5 & 6 • Complete Formative Assessment System (FAS) • Collect and organize evidence/artifacts for portfolio • Submit portfolio for progress checks & end of year verification • Complete BTSA end of year survey online
Participating Teachers’ Roles & Responsibilities • Build a portfolio for the Commission on Teacher Credentialing and California Department of Education which demonstrates professional practice • Meet with BTSA support provider regularly for guidance as monitored by BTSA director • Participating teachers direct the uses of formative assessment evidence generated from their teaching practice • It is the responsibility of the participating teacher to meet the BTSA Induction Standards in order to receive a clear credential
Support Providers’ Roles & Responsibilities • Meet with participating teachers regularly • Guide participating teachers with collection of evidence/artifacts for portfolio • Assist participating teachers with the Formative Assessment System (FAS) • Assist participating teachers with professional development based on the California Standards for the Teaching Profession
BTSA Induction • Two year program • Mandated process by SB 2042 & SB 1209 • Completion expected within two years • Units available from CSUF and FPU for BTSA Induction. Possible 9 units each year.
