Apr. 28-May 2 Week 32 Mrs. Stephan’s News Math Dates/Important Info. This week we started working on partitioning a number. For example, we took the number 7 and found all the ways to make 7 by using shark teeth. 2 teeth on top plus 5 teeth on bottom equals 7 teeth. We then moved the teeth around and found other ways to make 7. The children worked on the book Nature Walk to introduce the concept of partitioning numbers. We also continue to work on counting by 1’s, 10’s, 5’s, & 2’s. 5/2 – AM class only/half day of school/no PM class Week of May 12th – MAP testing 5/16 – Explore More Day 5/23 – Field Day 5/26 – No School/Memorial Day 6/4 – Kindergarten End of the Year Picnic (more info. to come) 6/5 – Last day of Kindergarten! We look forward to learning about them and watching them grow and change. This week we read books about caterpillars and butterflies. We are learning about the life cycle of a butterfly through reading and writing activities. We are also working hard on using short vowel sounds to make CVC words to match a picture. The children worked on coloring a butterfly book by reading the color words in the text. We also worked on our April memory book page. It’s hard to believe that we only have one more month left to finish our memory books! The children are working hard to identify beginning, middle, and ending sounds in words. They are adding sounds, taking sounds away, and changing sounds to make new words. PBIS/Behavior We are getting very close to earning an ice cream party!
