Motivation • Develop advanced technology solution to address the safety issues raised in our community. • Develop accurate localization technique to cover both indoor and outdoor location details of users
Recap From the last presentation • Background Study • Current commercialized products do not have indoor localization capabilities • Patents do not present cost-efficient or accurate enough solution to indoor localization • Challenges • Triangulation Issues: • Not enough access points to do triangulation. Inaccuracy due to signal strength and multipath Propagation. EMERGENCY Name: Julie Porter Location: Scott Library Special needs: Asthma
Discussion about today’s presentation • Design Building Blocks • Methodology • Challenges
Design Building Blocks • SafetyFirstmobile application acquiring location data from Android Application • Telemetry Data analysis • Kalman filters and Error correction • Communication between Server and Application • Database- to store telemetry data • Matlabto design positioning algorithm
SERVER DEVICE SafetyFirst Algorithm designusing Matlab Kalman Filter Telemetry Data Telemetry Location Data Acquisition Representation of Design Building Blocks
Initial Implementation Methodology • Transferring data from Android phone to Matlab • Instrument Toolbox to receive the data • Under Investigation • Database and server information sharing • Kalman Filters and error correction
Challenges • Server overloaded with real-time data • Initial android application algorithm not providing accurate data due to clock sync problem
Conclusion and Next Step • Good Result#1: • Able to send data from android in real time • Able to receive the data directly in Matlab • Unsolved Problem #1: • Apply the theoretical algorithm in Matlab to compute the position
