  32. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Printing Problems – Causes and Solutions 1. Vertical Black Line and Band Description: 1. Straight thin black vertical lines are shown in the print-out. 2. Dark black vertical bands are shown in the print-out. Check and Cause Solution • Damaged developer roller, deformed Doctor-blade or cleaning blade in the toner cartridge. • Scratched surface of the charge roller in the toner cartridge. • Depression or deformation of the surface of the 2nd transfer roller. • Replace the Imaging Unit and test again • Replace the Imaging Unit and test again • Replace the 2nd transfer roller and test again

  33. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Printing Problems – Causes and Solutions 2. Vertical White Line Description: White vertical voids in the image. Check and Cause Solution • Contamination of the window or internal lenses of LSU mirror. • Foreign object inside the toner cartridge. • Toner is low in the developer. • The rollers in the fuser is defective, void occur periodically at the top of a image. • Contamination of the OPC Drum. • Depression or deformation of the surface of the 2nd transfer roller • Clean the LSU window with recommended cleaner(IPA). Clean the window with a clean cotton swab. If inside of the LSU is contaminated-replace LSU. • Replace the Imaging Unit. • Replace the Toner Kits. • Open the rear cover and check the ribs that correspond to the position of the voids. Remove if found. • If the problems are not solved, replaced the Imaging Unit. • Replace the 2nd transfer roller.

Horizontal Black Bands Description: Dark or blurry horizontal stripes occur in the printing periodically (These may occurs at regular intervals down the page.) Check and Cause Solution • Bad contacts on the Imaging Unit high voltage terminals. • The rollers in the Imaging Unit may be contaminated. • Charge roller – 37.7 mm • Supply roller – 47.5 mm • Develop roller – 35.2 mm • Transfer roller – 46.2 mm • Clean all HV terminals in the Imaging Unit and on the set frame. Ensure all toner or paper dust, particles are removed. • Clean the right Gear that has relatively small tooth gap on the OPC. • If the problems are not solved, replaced the toner cartridge.

  35. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Printing Problems – Causes and Solutions 4. Black/White Spot Description: 1. Dark or blurry spots occur periodically in the printing 2. White spots occur periodically in the printing Check and Cause Solution • OPC drum & rollers in the Developer or chager may be damaged and contaminated with foreign matter or paper particles. • Replace the Imaging Unit and test again

  36. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Printing Problems – Causes and Solutions 5. Light Image Description: The printed image is light, with no ghost. Check and Cause Solution • Develop roller is contaminated or the toner is almost empty. • Bad contact caused by dirty terminals on the Imaging Unit or set. • Abnormal output from the HVPS. • Replace the Imaging Unit and try to print out again. • Clean the cartridge and set contacts. Gently clean dirt from inside of the set. • Replace the HVPS if the problem are not solved by the above four instructions.

  37. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Printing Problems – Causes and Solutions 6. Dark image or Black Description: The printed image is dark. Check and Cause Solution • No charge voltage in the engine board. • Charge voltage fault due to bad contact between Imaging Unit and set contacts. • Check the state if the connector which connects the engine board and HVPS. • Clean the high voltage charge terminals. • Note : if 1 and 2 do not solve the problem persists replace the HVPS.

  38. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Printing Problems – Causes and Solutions 7. Uneven Density Description: Print Density is uneven between left and right. Check and Cause Solution • The pressure force in the left and right springs of the 2nd transfer roller is not even, the springs are damaged, the 2nd transfer roller is improperly installed, or the 2nd transfer roller bushing or holders are damaged. • Toner is low. • The toner level on the Developing Roller is not even in the Imaging Unit due to the damaged blade. • Replace the left and right bush and spring assemblies. • Replace Toner Kit and try to print out. • Replace the Imaging Unit.

Strain in the Face of the Page Description: The background on the face of the printed page strained Check and Cause Solution • Toner leakage due to improperly sealed Imaging Unit. • Poor Toner cartridge OPC cleaning. • Replace the Imaging Unit. • Replace the Imaging Unit.

  40. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Printing Problems – Causes and Solutions 9. Strains on Back of Page Description: The back of the page is strained at 46.2 or 75.5 mm intervals. Check and Cause Solution • 2nd Transfer roller is contaminated. • Pressure roller in Fuseris contaminated. • Replace the transfer roller if it is contaminated. • 2. Disassemble the fuser and clean the Heat Roller and Pressure Roller. Check and clean the area between the Heat Roller and the Thermistor. (Caution: Take care not to deform the rollers)

  41. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Printing Problems – Causes and Solutions 10. Blank Page Print out(1) Description: Blank page is printed. Check and Cause Solution • Bad ground contacts in OPC. • Check if the Ground-OPC or the OPC Groung. • Remove contamination of the terminals in the Imaging Unit and the unit.

Ghost Description: Ghost occur at 75.4mm intervals of the OPC drum or 27mm intervals of the developing roller in the whole Printing Check and Cause Solution • Bad contacts caused by contamination from toner particles between high voltage terminal in the main body and the one in the HVPS board • The life of Imaging Unit is expired. • 2nd Transfer roller life(100,000 sheets) has expired. • Damaged cleaning blade in the Imaging Unit • Clean all HV contacts. If problem persist replace the HVPS. • Replace the Imaging Unit • Check the 2nd transfer roller lifetime and replace it. • Replace the Imaging Unit

  43. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Paper Feeding Problems – Causes and Solutions 1. Wrong Print Position Description: Printing begins at wrong position on the paper. Check and Cause Solution 1. Wrong sensor timing caused by defective feed sensor actuator. • Replace the defective actuator.

  44. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Paper Feeding Problems – Causes and Solutions 2. Jam 0 Description: 1. Paper does not exit from the cassette. 2. Jam-0 occurs when the paper feeds into the printer Check and Cause Solution • Check the Solenoid. • Check the cassette knock-up plate and springs. • Check the paper separator pad. • Check the pick-up roller for contamination and correct assembly. • If continuous clusters occur, check all rollers between pick-up and registration sensor. • Replace the solenoid. • Repair/replace as required. • Clean with soft cloth dampened with IPA(Isopropyl Alcohol) or water. Replace if required. • Clean with soft cloth dampened with IPA(Isopropyl Alcohol) or water. Replace if required. • Ensure all rollers are clean and free to operate correctly.

  45. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Paper Feeding Problems – Causes and Solutions 3. Jam 1 Description: 1. Paper is jammed in front of or inside the fuser. 2. Paper is stuck in the exit roller and in the fuser just after passing through the Actuator-Feed Check and Cause Solution • If the recording paper is stuck in the exit roller and in the fuser just after passing through the Actuator-Feed, Feed Actuator may be defective. • Reassemble the Actuator-Feed and spring-Actuator if the movement is bad. Replace if necessary.

  46. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Paper Feeding Problems – Causes and Solutions 4. Jam 2 Description: 1. Recording paper is jammed in front of or inside the fuser. 2. Recording paper is stuck in the discharge roller and in the fuser just after passing through the Actuator-Feed. Check and Cause Solution • If the paper is rolled in the Fuser Roller. • - It occurs when the Heat Roller or Pressure Roller is seriously contaminated with toner. • If the paper is stuck in the fuser: disassemble the fuser and remove the jammed paper and clean the surface of the pressure roller with dry gauze. Check all ribs.

  47. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Paper Feeding Problems – Causes and Solutions 5. Paper rolled in the fuser Description: Paper rolled around fuser rollers or ‘Concertina’ jam Check and Cause Solution • Contamination of the pressure roller or heat roller. • After disassembling the fuser, clean contamination from between the heat roller and the thermistor and also clean contamination from the preesure roller. Clean the surface of the rollers with IPA or water.

  48. Ⅳ. Trouble Shooting Scanner, OPE Problems – Causes and Solutions 1. Scan Lock Error Description: CCDM doesn’t move. Display ‘scan lock error’ on LCD Check and Cause Solution • Check if the switch is pulled out completely to the unlock • mark inside platen glass • Are you sure that switch is • pulled out completely? • Pull out the switch with • ice green color • Push ‘cancel’ button
