Introduction • The show began in 13th August, 1997. • The makers of South park are Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Anne Garefino. • Trey Parker And Matt Stone do the voices of all 4 main characters, Brian Gradenbeing the developer and Mona Marshall and April Stewart who do most of the female voices. • We selected the show because it is appealing to our age group and we find it quite entertaining.
Results of primary research • We made a survey on who liked the TV show and who didn’t. • 79% of people liked the show, and the other 21% did not. • We asked students from 16-19, both male and female. • We asked 14 people in total. • Results were not reliable as we were limited to the people we could ask. • The data we obtained quantitative as we could put the results into a chart because it was all in numbers. It wasn’t qualitative because it wasn’t revolved around peoples opinions. • We found that people found Cartman to be the most popular character in the show.
Results of secondary research • Viewing figures of the first episode were 980,000. • Series 10, episode 1 had 3.5 million viewers. • Series 17 (newest) episode 1 had 4.3 million viewing. • I think it turned out to be a massively popular show as you can see that it had gained millions of viewers from the first episode to the 10 series. • We found that in a week at the end of August moving into September in 2011, that the TV show was first in the viewings, however the shows only had around 111,000 to 147,000 viewers. So it shows that not many people watch it as much as they used to when it was first released
Average south park audience • The age of the audience would be around 16-21. Not many young adults would watch south park mainly because it’s immature humour, but teens find it entertaining. • I think mainly males would watch south park. not really a girls sort of show to watch, as it’s a little crude. • I think as the show can mock other races, a majority of the audience would be white. • As the TV show also mocks the sexuality of some people, straight people would watch the show more than other.
