Kim Hosford A school psychologist in direct service for 19 years Received her RTI training while at the Heartland AEA, in Iowa (no better place in the country to practice RTI) A certified Pilates instructor with a keen sense of humor
Pam Zinn Pam has been an EBISS Systems Coach in the Hillsboro School District for 2 years Twelve years as the literacy coordinator in the Tigard-Tualatin SD She’s a HUGE sports fan
Natalie Hanson Spent 3 years as a DIBELS Data System Manager Two years as a literacy support specialist in the Springfield school district When not looking at data she is either running in an overnight relay race, playing Lasertag with a girl she mentors, or on a tandem bike with her husband
Eugenia Coronado Administrative assistant for Pacific Institute for Research for last 5 years Now provides support for EBISS and several other organizations at CTL Away from work she enjoys time with her husband, two young children, and two not-so-young dogs

A short history of EBISS… • In education research we spend a fair bit of time studying specific interventions or programs, in order to evaluate the effect they will have on student achievement. • Once we identify an effective practice, we give it our gold seal of approval, label it an Evidence Based Practice (EBP), put it on a recommendation list, and tell educators where to find it. • Two evidence based practices you are now very familiar with are: • Positive Behavior Support • School-wide Literacy Model 3. Then we go back to creating and evaluating more programs!
Ah-ha! We have an implementation gap which Fixsen and Blase described as: The act of adopting an evidence based practice, but not using it or implementing it fully or effectively.

To establish priorities and monitor district goals. Districts and Interagenciesshould revisit this plan on a more frequent basis than the DSSP (e.g. monthly or bi-monthly) depending on the extent of work required. Action Planning
Funding News Funding for this year is $7,300 per district Carry-over from last year has been extended until December 31st, 2010 for everyone even if you have not yet formally requested it 2010-2011 funding will become available during the first week of October At this time, no additional money is anticipated

What You Can Expect of Us At least one on-site visit from your EBISS Coordinator to participate in an EBISS district leadership team meeting. Other times available by telephone and video using Skype or Webinar On-going support with district data interpretation, and implementation of PBIS and the Schoolwide Reading Model with an emphasis this year on effective coaching Timely newsletters to keep you informed about grant requirements, conferences, and other topics of interest Information about funding and future grants A series of short (10 min), but informative webinars about topics that you’ve told us are important to you. Topics currently planned include: Best Practices for Coaching, Funding in Tough Times, and Gaining Support For Your District by Educating Stakeholders

EBISS Systems Coaches What do you do?
EBISS System Coach’s Responsibilities • Organize and facilitate EBISS district and Interagency team meetings • Devote approximately 25 days a year to the EBISS grant initiatives • Participate in mandatory and optional EBISS trainings • Collaborate efforts between the EBISS district/Interagency team, and the building teams related to RTI, PBS, and the SWRM 40
EBISS System Coach’s Responsibilities (cont.) Arrange for reliable collection and utilization of academic and behavior data in each EBISS school/site Coordinate the submission of EBISS deliverables Assist with decisions regarding allocation of EBISS grant funds, district professional development and district assessment plan Communicate regularly with assigned EBISS state coordinator

What’s New This Year? The EBISS calendar is now on the CTL EBISS website. You will see listings for PD that we recommend, conferences both required and not, and deliverable due date information. Most postings have links that provide important information about the event so that you don’t have to hunt for the registration form etc. After you click on the calendar listing, click again where it says “more information”. This will pop open a larger screen with lots of detail about the event and relevant links (such as registration). Important announcements will be included in our emailed newsletters. Please make sure that your other EBISS team members are all receiving their newsletters and opening them, as this will be our primary way of communicating with you and your team.
