Welcome to the British Section of SHAPE International School. Our school is an integral part of the SHAPE International School (SIS) and is situated on a large campus made up of 11 national sections with some 2,500 students overall. Some sections cater for both elementary (primary) and secondary age pupils but the British Section take only those children of primary school age (three to eleven). The British Section follows the British national curriculum and associated national tests. It is also subject to regular Ofsted Inspections by HMI. The school was last inspected in Nov 2010 and was described in the resulting report as being "...an outstanding school..." The full report can be seen on the Ofsted website at www.ofsted.gov.uk.
Our School British Section, SHAPE International School The British Section is also responsible for the education of three year olds and operates a Foundation Stage for FS1 and FS2 children within the International Kindergarten of SIS. This is a purpose built facility for young children and is situated on the SIS site approximately 300m from the British Section main building. All FS children regularly visit the main school to use various facilities, including our well maintained library, ICT suite, and school hall. Our School British Section, SHAPE International School The British Section follows the Foundation Curriculum for FS1 and FS2 classes and the English National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2. In addition to prescribed National Curriculum subjects, French lessons form part of our curriculum and are taught across the whole school by native French speakers to pupils from the ages of three to eleven years. Our School British Section, SHAPE International School Class teachers are responsible for the teaching of most subjects and are assisted by a highly skilled team of Learning Support Assistants, including dedicated LSAs for Special Educational Needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL). Curriculum Support Teachers support the delivery of the curriculum in each Key Stage and include specialist teachers of Music and French. Our School British Section, SHAPE International School We continually review and improve our teaching and assessment practices and actively incorporate new developments in education. National assessment requirements are met for children in the Foundation Stage, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6, as in the U.K. At every stage and phase, our children achieve very strongly compared with schools in the UK and within Service Children’s Education (SCE). Our School British Section, SHAPE International School The aim of all our planned teaching and learning activities is to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of all pupils according to aptitude and ability, so as to raise levels of personal attainment and to set goals for further improvement. From FS to Year 6 we involve our children in the assessment of their own learning.
